The employer will take 5 seconds to form an opinion -- first impression counts. You have to show you have the necessary skills to match the job in question. There are a few simple rules, which we will explain in this video. -Keep your CV accurate, concise and well presented. Write it yourself, you will be expected to talk about your CV at interview and it will be obvious if someone has written it for you. -Start with your contact details -- name, address and telephone numbers. Include a key achievements heading -- back these up with compelling facts. Personal profiles tend to be very similar from one CV to the next. Capture your reader's interest. -Employment history comes next, always start with the most recent job first. Next give your education history, your relevant qualifications and then your relevant training. -Finish up with your interests and hobbies and finally your references -- you do not have to include the referees' details.

How to write a good CV/Resume What information should a CV include? 1. Personal details. Most CVs start with these but take care to avoid superfluous details, such as religious affiliation, children's names and so on. 2. Education and qualifications. Take care to include the names of institutions and dates attended in reverse order; university before school results. 3. Work experience. The most widely accepted style of employment record is the chronological CV. Career history is presented in reverse date order starting with most recent. Achievements and responsibilities are listed against each role. More emphasis/information should be put on more recent jobs. 4. Skills & achievements. Include computer skills and (genuine) foreign language skills and any other recent training/development that is relevant to the role applied for. 5. Hobbies and Interests. Keep this section short. How long should a CV be? A good curriculum vitae should ideally cover no more than two to three pages. Aim to ensure the content is clear, structured, concise and relevant. Using bullet points rather than full sentences can help minimize word usage. 1. Write yourself (But check spelling and grammar) ~ do not copy paste: Remember that your CV will form part of the script for the interviewer's questions. 2. Customize the CV according to the company and role you are applying. Hobbies and interests that paint a positive image 3. Always put the most important matching points first, even if they are less important in terms of your present job, or were skills or achievements that go back some time 4. Illustrate your achievements It is not sufficient to simply state the posts and responsibilities that you have held. It is vital to illustrate how well you have carried out this work through your list of achievements. How does an achievement differ from responsibility? An achievement is a statement of how you have added value to an organization.
