How to make a Classic Pimm's

A gloriously British drink that instantly conjures up the image of a summer at Wimbledon and Henley Royal Regatta. Pimm's was developed by James Pimm in 1823 when he created tonics served in tankards, which later influenced the name No.1 Cup. "Hi, I’m Joe and here’s the 31DOVER.com guide to making a perfect Classic Pimm’s. Pimm’s is the taste of the English summer and the perfect drink when the sun finally comes out. This simple recipe is how to recreate the absolute classic. You will need a Collins glass full of ice, Pimm’s No. 1, your favourite Gin, some fruits which we’re using oranges, lemons, strawberries and cucumbers and some mint and lemonade. Fill that glass full of ice. We then take a double shot of Pimm’s No. 1, half a shot of your favourite Gin. Add a little more ice and then the fruits. You take a slice of cucumber, a slice of lemon, a slice of orange and a strawberry. Add a sprig of mint. We then top with lemonade. We then give it a quick stir and serve. For a change, you can use ginger ale instead of the lemonade. To make it in a jug for a group use exactly the same proportions. Here’s one I made earlier. Drink through a straw. An umbrella is optional depending on the weather."
