One HABIT That Will Change Your World - Bob Proctor

Bob Proctor explains ONE idea that if you turn to habit, will change your world forever. Napoleon Hill wrote an entire chapter on this one idea in his book, 'Think And Grow Rich.' It is such a powerful concept! Ray Stanford, my first mentor, told me something critical during one of the first conversations we ever had. He said, “You need only one quality to succeed. You must have discipline.” I didn’t want to have discipline. I thought discipline meant punishment. But the truth is discipline is the ability to give yourself a command and then follow it. Well, it didn’t take long for me to figure out that Ray was right. You will never develop anything of any consequence if you are not disciplined. However, if you are disciplined, you can have anything you seriously want. This is so basic, it’s so simple, yet it’s so misunderstood. People who make it in life, whether that’s becoming really rich, running a successful business or living life on their own terms, have all developed the skill of self-discipline. However, a common misconception about successful people is that they like doing all the things they do. That is utterly false. Successful people dislike the same things you do, but they do them anyway. They get up early. They make sure they’re in front of a prospect every morning at 9:00 a.m. They practice or study while others are watching TV. Why do they do things they dislike? Because they know that’s the price they have to pay for success. And so they discipline themselves to do the things they know they should do whether they like it or not. I am a very disciplined person. I don’t care if anybody else is working. I don’t care what anyone else is doing. I know what I’ve got to do, and I get it done. Of course, I wasn’t always like this. I don’t think anyone is born a naturally disciplined person. So don’t worry if you currently lack discipline. It’s something you can develop with practice, and the more you practice, the better you’ll become at it. Here are three things you can do to get started: 1. Realize that if you want something different in life, you’re going to have to do things differently. Then, command yourself to do what you know has to be done. 2. Begin scheduling your day—from the time you get up until the time you go to bed. If you have a schedule, you’re more apt to do more of the things you really need to do to get where you want to go. 3. Hold the image of being successful at what you want to do. Envision a complete shift. And proceed to let that vision unfold every day. It won’t be easy at first; however, you’ll get stronger and stronger. And then you’ll be able to do what you want, instead of just what you think you can do. So if you are watching my channel, most likely you have some interest in building wealth. You want to become wealthy. One of the most common ways you hear for building and growing wealth is the stock market. A lot of people are nervous about the stock market right now. We are at near record highs and a lot of people are predicting that another economic collapse is just around the corner. We also have another housing bubble that could pop at any time. It can be hard to pick the right stocks. It is reported that the average lifespan of a stock is 7 years. If it is here today, it could be gone within 7 years. It is also reported that the top 4% of all companies account for all of the wealth creation in the market. If you want to make money in the market you have a 4% chance of picking a stock that will make you money. So if you want to grow your money and you want to avoid the stock market, how can you do it? 🤔 Today we are going to talk about 6 ways you can build your wealth outside of the stock market. ➡️ 1. Investing in Real Estate [2:32] - 🏠 I am not going to make the claim that I am a real estate investor. How do you invest in real estate if you’ve never done it before? Connect with a few really good realtors. ▶︎▶︎ Open a Fundrise account with as little as $500: ➡️ 2. Invest in a Franchise [5:52] - 🏪 You can make a 10-15% return on your money by becoming a franchisee. This option is not for everyone as some companies can have really strict requirements. ➡️ 3. Life Insurance [8:43] - This is not my favorite option, however, if you have maxed out your 401K, your IRA, and other tax options out there, then you can look at policies. (Hint: big names can have hidden fees). ➡️ 4. Starting an Online Business [11:12] - 💻 There are so many options here. You could sell digital products, create a membership community, open an eCommerce store, or become an affiliate marketer. ➡️ 5. Building and Selling a Business [15:58] - This one will take a little time and some work. You have to take the time to build the business. ➡️ 6. Pay off Your Debt [18:17] - 💰 Become debt free. Assets minus liabilities = net worth. As you pay off your debt your net worth will increase. The biggest takeaway I want you to get from this video is that there are so many different options for building and growing your wealth. Any of these could work for you. How Kim Saves Half Her Income in an Expensive City | Afford Anything Podcast (Audio Only)

Five years ago, at age 29, Kim E. started her first professional, salaried full-time job, working as a firefighter for the City of Austin, Texas. She received a starting salary of $42,000. Today, five years later, she has saved: -- one year’s salary ($40,000) in an emergency fund -- one year’s salary ($42,000) in a workplace retirement fund -- more than half a year’s salary ($27,500) in a Roth IRA She also paid off her student loans ($10,000), paid off her car loan (roughly around $16,000-ish), and contributed to an H.S.A. account ($6,000, half of which came from an employer match.) Oh yeah, and she also bought and renovated a rental property. Translation? Today I am going to share 6 ‘rich people’ habits that I’ve adopted in my life and how my life has changed. I have seen exponential growth in my life and my business by changing a few small but impactful habits.

Before I share these 6 habits I want to give you a little context as to where I was in my life and career. To give you an idea of why I needed to make some changes.

So, I have been a financial planner for over 16 years. When I hit 5-6 years in my career and had reached a 6 figure income things were good. But, I felt like something was missing. 🤔

I began a journey of researching and looking at highly successful entrepreneurs. 💰 In my research I noticed that these people had some common habits. Some habits that I was not following. I was a bit skeptical but I thought I would try some of these changes and see if they had an impact on my life and career.

Over time I did see an impact. My business and career saw an impact. That is where I was. Now let’s see what these six changes were that made such an impact.

➡️ 1. Go to bed early [3:11] - I changed my habit from going to bed at 12 or 1:00 am and started getting to bed earlier so that I could get up earlier. Then I started each day with intent and focus.

➡️ 2. Exercise 4-5 days per week [6:02] - Being consistent with my workouts gives me so much more focus and energy. My productivity is through the roof.

➡️ 3. Meditation and Prayer [8:33] - Spending dedicated time each day for meditation or prayer can help to reduce stress, anxiety, and has so many other health benefits.

➡️ 4. Review goals on a consistent basis [10:38] - I used to review my goals on an annual basis, and would lose focus by the first quarter. I now review my goals quarterly.

➡️ 5. Read more books [12:38] - 88% of all rich people read self-development books. I used to be ok at reading books regularly. Now I read 1-2 books every week. I also listen to books on audio when I am driving or working out.

➡️ 6. Valuing relationships [14:14] - I used to just network with business colleagues, now I participate in mastermind groups, coaching groups, and other small support groups. This gives you an outlet to share things that are going on in your life and your career.

Those are the 6 rich people habits that I have adopted into my life. I can’t even emphasize enough what an impact they have had on my life. 😀

I wanted to share some of the results and not just the habits themselves. I not only saw growth and development in my personal life, I have seen tremendous financial growth in my business.
