30 Seconds to Impress

A job interview can be a stressful situation for anybody. Interviews provide insight into how a person may "fit" into the employer's organization. An interviewee's personal and professional demeanor will be scrutinized intuitively and/or deliberately by the interviewer. Believe it or not, a hiring decision may oftentimes be influenced by the interviewer's perceptions of the applicant during the opening moments of an interview. These first 30 seconds are a crucial opportunity for a job seeker to convey appropriate tact in their greeting, handshake, posture, speech, eye contact, and numerous other verbal and non-verbal language. The interviewer is a human, too, and although he/she is looking for a litany of skills and characterstics, he/she will also inevitably detect subtle subtext from an interviewee's individual and interpersonal presentation.

12 Questions to Ask Employers that Make You Sound Professional

Get the transcription here: https://www.jobinterviewtools.com/12-great-questions-to-ask-on-a-job-interview/ If you have a job interview coming up, I want to give you 12 questions to ask an employer, so you’ll sound smart and you’ll look interested in the job. Now, before I do that, I only want you to ask questions that you feel comfortable asking. Don’t just ask questions in your interview because you saw some guy on the internet, in a video and he told you that you should ask these questions. Only ask questions that make sense to you, that feel comfortable for you. Because if you ask every question that I mentioned in this video, it’s going to create a very awkward moment for you and your interviewer and I guarantee you your interviewer is not going to be impressed. So, how do you know what’s a good question to ask? Well, you want to ask questions that are going to help you make a decision about whether you want this job or not. If it doesn’t, then it’s not a good question. Now, I created another video on this topic; just the opposite; “Question Not to Ask in an Interview” and those are all the ‘Me type’ questions and you can watch that video. I’ll probably posted at the end of this one. But in this video, we’re just going to focus on questions to ask that are going to help you make a decision about whether you want to work there or not. For starters, never ask stupid questions. Now, I know you’ve been told your whole life, people tell you there are no stupid questions, “Don, you can ask anything”. Yes there are stupid questions and you don’t want to ask stupid ones. I’m just going to show you the right ones to ask. You only want to ask questions that are going to help you make a decision about whether you want this job or not. And when you go into the interview, you should be interviewing objectively. You shouldn’t have already been decided that you want this job. You should ask them questions, grill them on some questions; don’t overwhelm them, but hit them with some questions that are going to help you make that decision. Let’s look at some questions that you might want to ask. Remember, I said might. Only asked questions that feel right for you. Don’t ask questions because I said to ask them. Make sure they help you qualify the employers a place you want to be. Okay? First question to ask on a job interview; Can you tell me more about the day to day responsibilities of this position?

Why do you want to work here? Common Interview Questions

Watch Don show you how to answer "Why Do You Want to Work Here? Why you want to work here iis a great question and is sure to come up during your interview and probably when you least expect it. Lack of preparation for this question could very well cost you the job. One of the most important things is to be honest with your reason for wanting to work there, otherwise it will show. Ask yourself the question first, why do you want to work there? If your answer about working there is that you just need a job and paycheck, then dig a little deeper. If you still can't come up with an honest answer, then read on and hopefully I'll help you think of something. Make sure you have a clear understanding of why you want to work for them and that it's more than "just a job" to you. Do you admire this company? Do you like their products? Do they have a great success story? The key here is what is important to you about this company. The best way to prepare for why you want to work there is to research the company before you attend the interview and learn everything you can, past, present and future. Remember, the idea behind the interview is to find the best and most qualified candidate for the job and one that will best fit in with its culture. At this point, you should describe how your past experience has prepared you for this company. Your answer should demonstrate your familiarity with the company and its products and by doing this the interviewer will recognize you as a serious candidate. Interviewers like to hear praise about their company because it further solidifies the company's reputation in their own mind, but don't overdo it because it will come out sounding fake and cheap.
