Hey Folks, here is the best Bread and Butter Pickles (in our opinion) in the whole wide world! Give'em a go yourself and let me know how you make out! here is the recipe for a single batch of pickles 3 quarts of cucumbers sliced in coin form 1 quart of sliced onions 3 green peppers 3 red peppers (or whatever peppers you have on hand) Wash cukes, do not peal and slick thin. Peal and slice onion, wash up peppers and dice up small. Dissolve 1/2 cup of pickling salt in enough water to cover the pickles and veggie mixture and let stand 12 hrs or overnight. Drain and rinse well. To this add 7 cups of white sugar, 2 tsp of turmeric, 2 tsp of mustard see, 1 tsp of celery see and 4 cups of vinegar. Bring up to a simmer or just till pickle/ veg medley is heated through and bottle. Water bath 10 mins, when canner comes up to boil, set timer for 10 mins. After 10 mins take lid off and shut of burner, leave for 5 mins. Now take out of canner to cool and enjoy looking at you secret weapon at meal times! Write us, we would love to hear from you.
